Exercise Physiology
WHAT IS EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY?
Exercise Physiology focuses on the study of how the body responds and adapts to physical exercise and activity. Exercise Physiologists (EP's) apply evidence based, scientific knowledge to a multitude of individuals presenting with differing conditions.
EP's can provide tailored exercise programs to both acute musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation, and long-term chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. Exercise Physiology services can also be tailored to improve athletic and sport performance as well as pre and post operative procedures.
SESSIONS
Each session with your EP will focus on your presentation, exercise tolerance and personal goals. An initial consultation with involve taking a thorough medical and exercise history and a baseline exercise assessment. A suitable training program will be created to reach your goals.
Subsequent sessions will include detailed demonstrations of targeted exercises which are progressed over time.
Our EP’s will communicate well with your other health professionals to ensure you have a team approach for all your needs.
COVERAGE
Most health funds have coverage for Exercise Physiology under “extras cover”.
You can get a Medicare rebate for Exercise Physiology utilising the CDM Program given by your GP. Your doctor's referral will outline the number of Exercise Physiology sessions that will be covered in that 12month plan. Certain medical conditions such as Diabetes can allow a greater number of rebated sessions over a 12month period.
You can get a rebate from five visits per year. We can process the rebate on-the-spot, straight back onto your debit card. There will be a out of pocket fee.
